Remington is an absolute joy! This little boy (we believe he is Australian Shepherd / Rottweiler mix) is mellow, calm, and a super snuggle bug. He has had a rough time of it recently. He was a military dog who was adopted out to a local family. They just didn't want to take the time with him and kept him in a crate all day, which he chewed at to get out. Thinking he would have a better life on a farm (even though he had always been an inside dog), they dumped him with a local farmer who kept him outside, living in dirt and mud. He finally escaped and was picked up as a stray. The women at the shelter fell in love with this sweet boy and, ... (Read More)despite being heartworm positive, they kept putting off his euthanasia just knowing he would be rescued. And he was! He has been with us almost a month and has become a sweet, loving boy. All he wants is to be with his human and pack mates. He doesn't require a lot of exercise, just a short walk around the block in the morning and in the evening and he is happy as can be. He also is not active in the house. I don't think he ever had toys and does not quite know what to do with them. He has shown a little bit of playfulness, but really would rather just sit next to someone and snuggle. And he LOVES belly rubs! He is a shy, submissive guy, has no desire to be leader of the pack, so does really well with both male and female dogs. He also has absolutely no interest in cats. We have 5 and when they run by him he acts like he doesn't even see them. He is social and friendly when meeting new people, a bit shy but warms up quickly. He stays by my side all day, just happy to lay on his bed and have a warm, safe place to be. (Less)
